Stout

Double Cream Stout

Style:

Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts.
Available October-March.

Cherry Stout

Style:

This unique ale begins its life as a powerful and richly sweet stout to which Michigan tart cherries are added. The resulting black brew is complex, sweet and tart with a distinct cherry finish. It will improve with cellaring.
Available September - May

Black Friday

Style:

Black Friday™ doesn’t just happen in one day: work on this rarity starts in January. The second dark-roasted malt hits the water in our mash tun, prep for Black Friday™ begins. After fermenting for nearly a month, our brewers fill some
40-odd bourbon barrels by hand with rich, chewy and chocolatey Imperial Stout, where it lays dormant for ten months, picking up vanilla, oak, and toasted almond flavors. Like we always say: Prepare.

My Turn Series: Michael

Style:

While most of North America sleeps, Michael is at the helm of our keg fillers, making sure each barrel is immaculate before filling it with fresh, cold Lakefront draught beer. Michael stays vigilant overnight with copious amounts of black tea; so, when his turn came around, he wanted to blend the clove, pepper, ginger, and black tea flavors he relies on with a chocolatey, big-bodied, semi-sweet stout.

Whole Hog Espresso Stout

Style:

Handcrafted using a blend of supreme roasted malts, delicately aged on hand-picked espresso coffee beans from Valentine Coffee Roasters, Milwaukee, WI. Smooth and full on the palate with a roasted finish.

Expedition Stout

Style:

One of the earliest examples of Russian Imperial Stouts in the United States, Expedition Stout offers immensely complex flavors crafted specifically with aging in mind.

Cherry Stout

Style:

Tinted ruby-black, Cherry Stout gains its signature tartness from 100% Montmorency cherries grown in Michigan's Traverse City region.

Black Note

Style:

One of the most sought-after stouts in Bell's history, Black Note Stout blends the complex aromatics of Expedition Stout with the velvety smooth texture of Double Cream Stout, each aged in freshly retired oak bourbon barrels for months.

Red Velvet

Style:

Red Velvet oatmeal stout is a mind-bending beer. Like the cake that inspired it, the deep red color comes from beets, which add a rich, earthy character that complements the chocolate flavor and aroma. The foamy head of the nitro pour is our “icing”, adding a creamy smoothness to the mouthfeel. But this liquid dessert still finishes like a beer – not sweet, but just as satisfying.
